David Yakin, M.D.

Dr. Yakin is double board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons in orthopaedic surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine. He is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and obtained his undergraduate degree from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Hahnemann University Medical School in Philadelphia. He completed his internship in general surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and his orthopaedic surgery residency at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Professional Experience

Dr. Yakin has been in private practice in West Tennessee since 1997 where he settled after completing his orthopaedic training. While running his practice, he served as a professor for the Sports, Orthopaedics and Spine Sports Medicine fellowship program as well a clinical instructor for the Bethel University Physician Assistant program. He was also an orthopaedic instructor for the University of Tennessee Family Medicine Program. In 2016, he relocated to Fayetteville to join Advanced Orthopaedics where he serves as a team physician of the University of Arkansas in addition to his private practice. 

He's one of the leading surgeons in Northwest Arkansas certified to use Mako, a robotic-arm assisted technology that provides patients with a personalized surgical experience.

  • He was team physician for the Seattle Mariners and Chicago Cubs Organization, University of Tennessee at Martin, and Freed-Hardeman University.
  • He and his wife Peggy reside in Fayetteville with their two children, Caroline and Andrew.
